On Friday the 23rd June 2023 at Waiuku College, Te Taki Tu Charitable trust came together with Waiuku College, Te Ara Rangatahi, and Tuwhera Charitable trust to host our annual Matariki celebration event which brings together our whole community of Waiuku to celebrate Matariki. The Arts Broker Scheme contributed to one element of the staging costs for the event, which ran from 3.30pm - 7pm and 9 school groups performed on the stage in front of their whānau and the wider community.
Highlights: The energy of the whole event was sensational this year and we had many happy faces throughout the crowd. A Matariki Market ran alongside the concert where Rangatahi from Waiuku were able to fundraise for their upcoming overseas cultural exchange to Hawaii in September.
