Te Taki Tu Charitable Trust are offering a Māori cultural experience that gives people from the Waiuku community the opportunity to learn and engage in the Māori culture through Tikanga Māori, Toi Māori (Art) and Māori performing arts in a meaningful way - diving deep into the traditions, practices, beliefs, language and values of the Māori people.
The cultural experience will involve spending the day on the Marae. Participants are given the opportunity to take part in a Powhiri and Hangi food prep and serving, they will learn about traditional Maaori Kakahu and adornment, make their own Kono (flax plate), Poi Raupo (flax poi),and a Kaitiaki collage art piece.
