Te Taki Tu Charitable Trust offered a Maaori cultural experience that gave people from the Waiuku community the opportunity to learn and engage in the Maaori culture through tikanga Māori, toi Moaari (Art) and Maaori performing arts in a meaningful way.

The cultural experience involved spending the day on the marae. Participants were given the opportunity to take part in a powhiri and hangi food prep and serving, they learned about traditional Maaori kakahu and adornment, made their own kono (flax plate), poi raupo (flax poi),and a kaaitiaki collage art piece.
