#franklincreates mural

Pukekohe is getting a bright new landmark artwork, Thanks to funding from the Franklin Local Board and a wall of the Pukekohe Youth Centre.

The location of the #franklincreates mural on the Pukekohe Youth Centre is no accident; the centre nurtures the next generation of creatives through a range of activities such as art classes and music groups.

September 2019 marked a rich and well established history of the arts in Franklin with the 30th Franklin Arts Festival.  The #franklincreates mural is a wonderful, visual way of celebrating our thriving creative community - and it’s interactive!  Type #franklincreates into Instagram or Facebook and find a growing wealth of local creative talent.

Thanks to the Franklin Local Board, the artist creating the mural, Faren Wyatt of JustPaint, will also run a workshop for teenagers in the July school holidays.  Participants will create their own Street Art style canvas and learn how to go about enriching their community in a positive way with properly sanctioned artworks.
