Free to the public music concert in collaboration with Franklin Art Gallery, Pukekohe Library and Caterpiller Café, held in the atrium of Franklin The Centre on Massey Ave, in Pukekohe. Three local musical acts were presented, Jah Branks, Briget Nissen, Aro Music. The kaupapa of the concert was to present live music to a diverse audience by making it early in the evening, freely accessible to all, not in a pub.
Highlights: The musicians were grateful that it was respected as a concert - keeping quiet as the artists shared their tunes, applauding every waiata that was shared, starting with the fun tunes from Jah Branks and his old music teacher who joined him on guitar, then the room swooned away to the mesmerizing sound of Bridget Nissen, and the stories and harmonies of the bilingual duo Aro, where the crowd all joined in with the interactive set they shared.
Feedback: “we were humbled by the amount of people who came up after the show and raved about all three artists and how much they had enjoyed the event. There was a certain keenness from everyone who came up after the show that they want more of this in our local community” Emily Rice
