The Waiuku Music and Arts Fest was held at the Waiuku Cosmopolitan Club on February 2nd 2025. This event was held to showcase the local Franklin based artists, crafts people and musicians. As well as a market area with local crafts people selling and displaying their wares, we had food trucks and a live stage with a number of community groups and local musicians playing. This included some singer song writers, a children’s choir and drumming group, a steel pan band, a folk fiddle duo and a country group from Awhitu Peninsula, as well as our own group Kra KoTo Kra. We also held workshops for the audience to participate in which was also well received.
Organiser: Lian Wong (Kra Koto Kra) A highlight from organising this event is finding out about the variety of music and arts that was available in Franklin. We also had a number of people who were keen to participate but were unable to, which makes the possibility of future events quite exciting as we can vary and diversify yet again within the Franklin demographic without overlapping.
